Day 1
Day 1: Entebbe, Uganda. Arrival Day

Today is arrival day in Uganda at Entebbe International airport where you will be met by your guide and transferred to Nr 5 Boutique Hotel, Entebbe.  After checking in at the hotel and familiarize yourself with your new surroundings your guide will give you a detailed briefing on your Rwenzori Trekking  that will take place over the next few days.

Accommodation: The Nr 5 Boutique Hotel Entebbe.

Day 2
Day 2: Entebbe to Kasese

Your guide will pick you up  from the Boma Hotel and Transfer to Kasese- Western Uganda via Fort Portal. Long drive with stop over for Lunch and at Cultural museums as the eyes enjoy the undulating landscapes terrain, Tea plantation and urban activities enroute reaching evening to check in at your Hotel reserved.

Kasese - Elevation: 3,000 feet / 1000 meters.

Accommodation: Margherita Hotel, Kasese.

Day 3
Day 3: Nyakalengija-Ibanda to Nyabitaba Hut, Elevation: 8,694 feet / 2650 meters

Begin Trek - Nyabitaba Hut, Elevation: 8,694 feet / 2650 meters.

After breakfast, we will be transferred to Nyakalengija-Ibanda to start our trek. The trail begins by passing through farmland to the park boundary. The trail follows the Mubuku River, crossing its Mahoma tributary before starting a long, steep climb up onto the massive ridge to reach the Nyabitaba Hut. During this part of the trip you may hear chimpanzee and see black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and the brilliantly colored Rwenzori turaco. Dinner and overnight at the Nyabitaba Hut set on the forested ridge with a view of portal peaks and the Bujuku Valley.

Day 4
Day 4: Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut, Elevation: 11,089 feet / 3380 meters

John Matte Hut, Elevation: 11,089 feet / 3380 meters.

Early breakfast, then we start the hike to the John Matte Hut. The trail descends through forest to cross the Bujuku River at the Kurt Shaffer Bridge, and through a lobelia, giant heather and groundsel forest. You will stop at Nyamileju Hut, “Place of Beards,” a name that refers to the moss and lichen hanging from the trees. Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be seen before passing into the forest. You will carry on to the John matte Hut, which is close to the river in a grove of giant heather. Dinner and overnight at John Matte Hut.

Day 5
Day 5: John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut, Elevation: 13,047 feet / 3977 meters

Bujuku Hut, Elevation: 13,047 feet / 3977 meters.

From John Matte hut, the trail drops down to cross the Bujuku River and enters Lower Bigo Bog, the home of giant lobelia. Jumping from tussock to tussock, the bog is finally crossed, but rarely without the your feet sampling some of the freezing ooze below. The Bupper Bigo Bog gives way to Bujuku Lake, with views of Mount Baker to the south and Mount Stanley to the west. Bujuku Hut, well located in the shadow of Mount Baker and Mount Speke, is set in a narrow valley below Stuhlmann Pass. Dinner and overnight at Bujuku Hut.

Day 6
Day 6: Bujuku Hut to Elena Hut, Elevation: 14,898 feet / 4541 meters

Elena Hut, Elevation: 14,898 feet / 4541 meters.

Leaving Bujuku, the trail takes you through more bog, while climbing the steep slopes west of the lake and through the magical Groundsel Gulley as it ascends to Scott-Elliot Pass at 14,343 feet / 4372 meters. At the head of the gully, a metal ladder takes you over a steep section after which the trail is divided into two. The trail on your right leads up to Elena Hut and Mount Stanley on a steep trail over large boulders, while the trail on your left leads to Scott-Elliot Pass and down to Kitandara Lakes. The trail on the left leads those who are not climbing Margherita Peak down to Kitandara Hut. Dinner and overnight at the cool and icy Elena Hut.

Day 7
Day 7: Elena Hut to Marherita Peak to Kitandara Hut at 13,211 feet / 4027 meters.

Marherita Peak, Elevation: 16,761 feet / 5109 meters.

For those aiming at reaching Margherita Peak and Albert in the same day, continue to the base of Stanley Glacier. To reach the summit of Margherita, the climb takes about 5-7 hours depending on the weather conditions and the pace of the group. This tough walk takes you over three glaciers, slippery rock, ice and some exposed areas. The route gets us up on the glaciers to cross the Stanley Plateau. After standing on the summit of Margherita, the highest peak in the Rwenzori’s, we come back to the Elena Hut for lunch and then proceed down to the Kitandara Hut at 13,211 feet / 4027 meters.

Day 8
Day 8: Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut

Mount Baker/Freshfield Pass, Elevation: 15,892 feet / 4844 meters.

You will trek to Freshfield Pass today. From Kitandara, take the trail that ascends steeply up the headwall, spreading out from the base of Mount Baker and continuing along the south side of the mountain to Freshfield pass. At this point, you will have views into the Congo to the west and Mount Stanley to the north. From the pass, trekkers will take the long trail passing the rock shelter at Bujongolo, the base camp for the historic expedition by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906.

Climbers will get an earlier start and climb the mountain from the pass. Celebration dinner with the porters and overnight at Guy Yeoman Hut. (It is recommended that tips be given this night).

Day 9
Day 9: Guy Yeoman Hut to Margherita Hotel in Kasese

Kasese, Elevation: 11,319 feet / 3450 meters.

We wake up early and descend from Guy Yeoman to Nyabitaba Hut and then to Nyakalengija. Below Guy Yeoman, the route descends the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu, the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice before climbing upwards to Nyabitaba to complete the circuit and continue to Margherita hotel in Kasese.

Day 10
Day 10: Margharita Hotel to Mweya Safari Lodge

After breakfast at Margherita Hotel we drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park to check in at Mweya Safari Lodge just on the Gorge of the park with beautiful view of the savannah plains for the night and relaxation. En-route we cross the Kazinga Channel where we do a boat cruise and a guided open vehicle game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Accommodation: Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 11
Day 11: Chimpanzee & primate Trekking in Kyambura Gorge

After an Early Breakfast, you will be driven to Kalinzu/Kyambura forest reserves for the Chimpanzee trekking. Note along the trek you will encounter other primates especially Monkeys like colobus monkeys, L’Hoests Monkeys, leopard, snakes, birds but with the guidance of the Ranger you will be safe. After the trek you will be driven back to the cottages for lunch before heading for the afternoon game drive to see the nature wild and some of the Big Five then retire at the cottages in time for Dinner.

Day 12
Day 12: Mweya Safari Lodge to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After Breakfast you will drive off for an early game drive in Ishasha sector with packed lunch for the picnic break before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest park via Kinkizi and checking in at the Silverback Lodge inside the park for the night stay and Dinner.

Accommodation: Silverback Lodge.

Day 13
Day 13: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest Park

After an early breakfast and with packed Lunch, you will be driven to the UWA briefing point prior to the Gorilla tracking Hike. Depending on the sighting of the Gorilla family since they are migratory, this may take 4-8 hours with one Hour allocated to fully interact with the Gorilla but following guidelines discussed during the briefing. These are shy on sight but the male silverback can be aggressive if it feels its family is under any threat but your advised to stay calm and not to go too close but they can come close when they feel the tourists ain't a threat especially the young ones often very playful. After you will retire to your cottages for dinner as you recount the experience with friends and other trackers.

Day 14
Day 14: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Lake Bunyonyi

Set off for Lake Bunyonyi after breakfast arriving in time for lunch after checking in at Bunyonyi Overland Resort. This is one spot preferred by most trackers as a cooling off point after the hectic tracking/hikes in Bwindi and it’s a natural beauty one of the largest crater with over 18 islands and interesting traditional enchantments. Afternoon will schedule a boat cruise on the lake before retiring for dinner and night stay.

Accommodation: Lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
